472 - Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis: Recurrence of an isolated oral lesion

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a neoplasm of the myeloid dendritic cells and affects 1-2/million adults. Prognosis of single-system LCH is excellent, but urgent diagnosis and management is required to prevent progression and long-term complications. Oral lesions may be the initial presentation of LCH, and it is crucial that dental care professionals are aware of the clinical symptoms of LCH to appropriately refer these patients. This poster discusses the diagnosis and management of a patient referred by their dentist for an area of non-healing ulceration in the maxilla. This was subsequently diagnosed as LCH and referred to the lymphoma multi-disciplinary team. The patient presented with reccurence once year later which was managed with surgical excision.
